I found some of the counters at Pike Place are tasty, cheap and cheerful. The Filipino food was really good when I tried it.

the downtown costco is an economic mystery to me. by my logic, they should fail miserably where they are.

and still, they do well.

costco offers one-size-fits-some, poor selection and virtually no customer service. normally, this would kill a business. but costco can do it due to the savings that they pass on of economy of scale. in short, the whole "costco concept" wouldn't work if it were much different.

i completely agree with you when it comes to packaging, though.
