Mod Post: New Mod, New Rules, and Temp. Suspension

Hello all!

Although it is a bit obvious, I feel the need to say that queershinobi100 has been in a bit of a slow spell in the last couple of months. I have thought about what to do, and I've decided that there needs to be a change.

First of all, I have recruited help in the form of asking steveness2310 to join me as a mod. She has accepted, and cannot wait to begin working ( Read more... )

I like either idea, though no competition and mod-chosen prompts would make the turnaround for new challenges faster, which would be a plus. Have you considered combining the two? For example, naruto_contest has a poll to choose the winner of each challenge, but the challenge is always from the mod. That way, the new challenge always starts on the selected day, but members can still participate in some way even if they don't actually write.

Then again, maybe non-competitive would be best, considering the range of writing styles and pairings.

lol idk what I prefer. Good luck figuring it out, you two. ^^b

I kinda like the idea of no competition but maybe that's just because I don't like competing in general lol. We're not really winning anything so I guess I just don't see the point of picking out one person and saying "yours is better than all the others." That's just me though, and it's really not because I'm so sensitive that I don't think anyone should compete ever lol I guess it's more along the lines of what ladygizarme was saying about how there are so many styles and pairings.

The idea of a poll is kinda cool too. I like that everyone has a say in who wins other than just one person. Basically, I'm not being helpful lol. Sorry, but I hope things get up and running again! I've only participated once so I'd like to give it another shot :)

Hell yea, that would be awesome! At the same time, this is a weekly competition and that's a lot of work to throw on you and faor. If this were an icon challenge you could just use the icon and add some text about how so-and-so won but for a writing challenge you would have to find images every week and then dress them up. Maybe I'm just making this sound harder than it is but I wouldn't want to make the mods do a bunch of extra work. You would know better than me about how difficult/time consuming making banners would be.

I agree with ladygizarme. I like the competition aspect in the community and want to keep that around since it's really what motivates me to actually participate a lot of the time. But if we're going to have a poll--which I strongly approve of--I think there should be banners or something for prizes. Before, choosing the new prompt and winner was sort of like a prize, so there's gotta be something to replace it:3

I hope this helps!♥

I'm pretty flexible either way. The benefit of doing non-competition is that people who are a bit afraid of it will post. Not everyone likes to compete, as mochalatt3 said.

However, I will say I do like the competition bit. It helps me get off my butt and write because I'm one to really put something off to the last minute. But I do like the poll idea as well as the banner thing would actually be pretty sweet. It's always nice to show off something you won.

I'm really either way on this. :)

I just thought of this but...how about mixing it up? Like, have some weeks for contests with vote polls and prizes, and one week a month for non-competition 'free posting' week? XD
