YOUR FILM

NOTE: Please exclude Tarantino films, settings, characters, and soundtracks to avoid bias!

List five of your favorite films: The Silence of the Lambs, The Beach, Wall-E, Leon aka The Professional, Tropic Thunder

Describe your film's setting: The South, maybe in some post or mid-apocalyptic future…

List three characters you relate to the most and explain why:
Faith Lehane: First character I ever related to from Buffy. From feeling like she’s in Buffy’s shadow, to having something of a lesbian crush on her, as how I sometimes felt about some of my best friends. I don’t trust easily. Though I have on occasion put stock in people for some particular goal who didn’t really have my best interests in mind. Men are something of a big joke to me, but “Daddy issues” make me cling to them sometimes. Even the occasional gullibility with strong female leaders like her watcher Gwendolyn Post or Buffy herself, and having to come to terms with the fact that the people you put faith in, no pun intended, will sell you out in the end. Faith’s father is never mentioned, but her relationship with the Mayor and need to show up the men in her life, definitely points to some distance. We know her mom died before she came to Sunnydale, but exactly when, we’re not sure. I’ve heard some guess she was something of an “army brat” for her use of the lingo, “5x5.” And they generally never stay in one place. I moved when I was 15 and never had a very consistent track record with schools, so I was never part of any particular clique, but I managed to gravitate to the strong, independent girls who knew how to use their intelligence, rather than shove it in everybody’s face, and the boys who could handle them. Unfortunately they usually also have a stronger moral center than I do, and while at times that’s nice because we balance each other out, other times it’s just a cause of conflict and my insecurities cropping up. I don’t know if I have quite the stomach to be absolutely evil, just as “absolutely good” never felt right with me either, like Faith, the only thing I like to enforce is “my way” and I will do just about anything to get it. I can be a bit hot-tempered and impetuous however and it gets me in trouble sometimes.

Severus Snape: Has a few daddy issues, obsessive, says things he regrets, extremely independent, fairly intelligent, at least smart enough to see through Voldemort…self-preserving, quite ambitious and willing to use “any means” to get it, able to lie convincingly for a particular goal (not just recklessly or to gain some sort of sympathy), doesn’t express his deeper motivations or feelings so can appear rather unpredictable. That whole, will he give an intelligent answer, a snarky remark, violent outburst, raised eyebrow, silent glare, or just walk away? You don’t know, that’s the fun… but for some inexplicable reason, like Snape, I also have a curious ability to be trusted (funny enough, for all these traits I almost put Wesley Wyndham-Price, and how he can be counted on to “sweep in all heroically and then trip on a banana peel or something”-Alexis Denisof, even heard both described by their respective writers as a “gift of a character,” but I’d rather identify one character per fandom for some silly, obsessive reason…).

&
Sherlock Holmes: I have OCD and a high I.Q., which means that I am easily entertained and dislike tedium, and I am known to make precise and often accurate observations based on the most minor of details, and like Holmes, I don’t always keep my mouth shut about it. I don’t generally care what other people think of me - as long as I know I’m right. It’s the possibility of being wrong that I take issue, but there’s only so far I am willing to go. As I don’t really think any outright criminal behavior is particularly intelligent - unless the rules are ridiculous. I’m not particularly, if at all superstitious - but then, that’s not terribly as progressive a thought as it was in Holmes’s time, now is it? Honestly, I’m a little wary of anyone who doesn’t relate to Holmes’ thought process these days. Deductive reasoning, ftw! As for the addiction, I love amphetamines, but don’t do cocaine because I’ve never been able to afford it. That and it being illegal now in this country is something of a deterrent. I’m also, despite all appearances, an excellent friend to the few I have. Always bailing them out of trouble, financially or otherwise and having their best interests in mind. Of course not always taking into account what they want in the moment, especially if it conflicts with my own ambition or what they really need. I’m allergic to compromise and admitting that I’m wr-r-rong. Well, not really, but it does cause me to itch, and twitch, and occasionally sneeze…psychosomatic allergy? Lol There is a fine line between genius and madness, like Holmes I have erased this line.

Pick five songs for the film's soundtrack:
Imagine-John Lennon
Imagine all the people
Living for today

This is something of a lie, or sugar-coating, but it’d be necessary, whether I’m the one convincing people or the one being convinced.

Imagine-A Perfect Circle
Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky

This is how the song was meant to be played. Deconstructing sociopolitical values, but John wanted to lighten it up a bit to be more progressive.

Cat People (Putting Out Fire With Gasoline)-David Bowie
See these eyes so green
I can stare for a thousand years
Colder than the moon
It’s been so long and I’ve been
Putting out fire with gasoline

I know he uses it in Inglourious Basterds and I don’t want to bias votes because I’d pick this song whether he’d used it or not, because my eyes actually happen to be green, and it matches my impulsive streak, and hell cats, David Bowie, <3 but I did squee like such a fangirl when I heard this song on the track, it also made me wonder if Quentin’s ever actually seen “Cat People”, which would make him even a little more awesome

Lovecraft in Brooklyn-The Mountain Goats
Some kid in a Marcus Allen jersey
Asks me for a cigarette
Companionship is where you find it
So I take what I can get

Nothing deep or anything, just acknowledges my weirdness, loneliness in a big city and white privilege

Same Direction-Hoobastank
So why does there only have to be one correct philosophy?
I don't want to go and follow you just to end up like one of them
And why are you always telling me what you want me to believe?
I'd like to think that I can go my own way and meet you in the end

Wow. Some deep lyrics. But I just like it because it makes a good chase song, fits into the whole “changing sides” theme that I’ve mentioned throughout.

Guilty Pleasure-Cobra Starship
I'm so bored, oh please,
Don't talk anymore,
Shut your mouth and get down on the floor,
So cynical, poor baby,
I can dish it,
'Cause I know how to take it.

(Oh oh oh)
You're never gonna win 'em all,
So fuck 'em if they can't take a joke,
I'm just playin'.

Just my own personal philosophy. It’s really no wonder I relate so well to Quentin, lol. Shame, what is that?
Pick the three most appealing genres:

[X] comedy
[X] coming-of-age
[ ] crime
[XXX] revenge
[ ] romance
[ ] slasher
[ ] war

Anything else we ought to know?: n/a
