What is Design?

Right now (ok well not *exactly* right now 'cuz I'm taking a break to do this) I'm slogging through a 10 page paper on "What is design? What is the designer's role in today's society?" Its supposed to be mainly theoretical and conceptual. Fuuuuuuuuck...I have 2 paragraphs so far and the rough draft is due on Thursday. Hahahahaaa...so here I am on
