The public are ignorant assholes, yes they are.

I've forgotten how aggravating is to deal with the public when you're under pressure. I was on my own yesterday with a massive queue to deal with, and I was running out of money in the till, with nothing but small change in the change box. One guy had asked about a film, I told him where it should be. Sometimes we'll just give them the dvd and hunt ( Read more... )

With the first guy you should have said."Well I'm sorry but being a loyal customer dosent put change for you in the till.

With the woman "Atleast I did not close the store before serving you, that would be outragouse and I dont have the power to close the store, please think before talking"

and with the 14 year old, well see if you can get him banned or lie and say you will get him banned.

And withthe person who compained about not serving them say,"Patience is a virutre."

Yesterday in the cinema about a minute into the credits I stood up and stretched and was about to leave this lady behind me said "Excuse me but I cant see"That was utterly stupid, giving out to some one for standing up during the credits.

I was too shocked at the first guy's response to say anything. As for the woman, she'd stormed out of the shop before I could even open my mouth. Like you said, I don't have the authority to close the shop, and anyway, as soon as it is closed and locked, the sensors are turned on. If I returned to open the store, the sensors would detect my movement. The security people would be alerted and ring the manager, while the Gardaí would be on their way. And all so I can give some people their change! It's not my fault that everyone goes to the ATM, gets €50 and then comes to the store. We inevitably run out of coins when that happens.

As for the 14-year old, I'll deal with him.

I deal with them. And then I tell them to have a nice day in a sweet tone. it pisses them off. but i've done my job as well as having the satisfaction of pissing them off.
And the loyal customer thing. They should know big bills are hard to change. Especially then.
So I agree. Ignorant assholes.

People are just ignorant, and when you know how nice you are to people behind the counter, being patient, it just boggles the mind how stupidly ignorant other people are. As if they're being the customer gives them the right to be assholes.

that's really the thing, i think. the word customer should be in the dictionary under "normal people who've had a bad day and live the rest of their day as douchebags".

Amen!

Though I have good customers, too. There's a little Croatian boy who keeps coming in and wanting me to follow him around the store... he knows where everything is and helps when putting DVD's back out onto the shelf, hehe.
