Rant against "the man"

I am sooo pissed about the social structure of America right now. I just spent 90 minutes of my life learing fun facts such as the top 20% of the US population controls 84% of the nation's wealth. Doesn't that figure just scream "democracy" and "fairness"? Not only that but while we have cut spending on welfare programs the government is giving ( Read more... )

Actually, "democracy" has nothing to do with economic equality. While the fact that a president is elected by an electorate, instead of the popular vote may not be democratic, and economic (and therefor social) upperclass doesn't matter, provided every citizen recieves one vote ( ... )

I concede to many of these points, however I do not think that our government should help big companies which are not in risk of going bankrupt. If these companies choose to advertise in a country (or region) where they have a large risk of failure, that's great but I don't want money taken from the general populace through taxation to pay for it. Also, I don't advocate cancer and I do want a cure to be found but I also don't think that companies who find tehse treatemnts should be able to profit not only from the research (because I can promise you that not all of that money went into the research) but from the sale of their product as well. As for the ammont of money, while $480 billion went to buisnesses as subsadies only $20 billion went to the needy in our country. And, as you have so elequently put it most of that gets sucked up into the bearucratic system we have in place.
