3. Is your character progressive, using new technologies as they become available? Is he slow to adapt to technological change? Or is he middle-of-the-road, waiting to see if things work but using them as soon as he's satisfied that they do?
He generally uses new technology as it becomes available to him. Leon is all about upgrading.
4. Your character receives a mysterious package. There's no return address (or not one that he recognizes) and he wasn't expecting anything. What does he do?
Opens it, though he'll try to figure out who sent it to him first.
o The package is unusually heavy and the label is hand-lettered in a handwriting he doesn't recognize.
He may or may not open it. He may want to have it sniffed for explosives first.
o The package is a thin manila envelope with a printed label.
He'll open it.
o There seems to be a faint vibration coming from the package and it was left on his doorstep.
He'll definitely have someone scan it first.
o The package is large and was delivered through a reputable shipping service.
He'll open it.
5. Does your character enjoy camping outdoors?
Yeah, he does.
6. Does your character know how to hunt or fish? Is he good at it? Does he do it for recreation or for food?
He's good at fishing and at hunting. He'll go fishing for the fun of it, but he never hunts for sport.
7. What is the one major regret your character has about his life so far? Does he plan to do anything about it, and if so, what?
His biggest regret would be the way things turned out with his family, and how distant he is from them. He may or may not do something about it in the future. His hesitation is largely because he doesn't know what to do or how to fix it.
8. What one major thing does your character want to accomplish in his life to come?
Start a family of his own.
9. How does your character want to live out his older years?
In a nice house, away from it all, probably somewhere near the ocean. His wife by his side, maybe a dog, and frequent visits from the kids and grandkids.
10. Overall, is your character satisfied with his childhood?
He has few complaints.
11. Your character has an award someone gave him sitting on a shelf. What is it for, and what are the circumstances under which he received it?
Odds are it's the
Congressional Gold Medal of Honor (and/or
The Presidential Medal of Freedom) which was awarded to him (in private) for "performing an outstanding deed or act of service to the security, prosperity, and national interest of the United States of America" when he saved the President's daughter.
o Is he proud of it or embarrassed by it?
Both, actually, but more embarrassed by it. He tends not to mention it. Ever. He probably wouldn't even have it on display, but he'd make sure it stayed safe.
o Does he feel that he deserved it?
He doesn't really think about it. He appreciates it, but any kind of hero-worship makes him kind of uncomfortable.
12. Has your character ever been arrested? For what? Did he deserve it? Does he feel that he deserved it?
Nope.
13. Has your character ever struck someone in anger?
Not unless they swung at him first.
14. Has your character ever killed anyone?
I'm fairly certain he has a 4 digit body count by now.
15. Is your character adventurous when it comes to food? Does he like to try out new cuisines?
Yeah, he does. He travels a lot, so he kind of has to be if he wants to eat more than just bread and water.
16. What is your character's idea of a perfect day?
Spending time and having fun with his girlfriend, Claire.
17. What is your character's idea of a perfect meal?
A big home-cooked feast, like a Thanksgiving dinner.
18. Is your character an optimist or a pessimist?
He's an optimist, almost insanely so.
19. What sort of sense of humor does your character have?
A very corny one.
20. Is your character ambitious?
He's driven to succeed at what he does, but doesn't have much in the way of high, long-term aspirations.
21. What makes your character proud?
Getting the job done right.
22. What makes your character embarrassed?
Any kind of praise for doing his job he find weirdly embarrassing.
23. Does your character look both ways before crossing the street?
Yes. He also checks his six to see if he's being followed.
24. What method of transportation does your character use? If he drives a car, for example, what kind of car does he drive?
His main method of getting around is an
Audi RS6.
25. Someone tries to rob your character on the street. What does he do? What is he carrying that the robbers might want? Is it a random incident or was he targeted?
He'd probably laugh inwardly that someone would try to rob a federal agent, then he'd beat the shit out of the crooks. He may or may not have been targeted. He tends to wear nice clothes, so they may think he has a lot of cash on him, or someone could've been trying to get something sensitive he was assigned to carry and deliver.
26. Does your character keep in touch with childhood friends? Which ones and why?
Nope. None of them.
27. Is there anything that can get a smile out of your character no matter how sad or upset he is?
Leon smiles rarely enough as it is.
28. Is there anything that can upset or anger your character no matter how happy he is?
If something were to happen to someone he cares about, that would ruin his mood in a hurry.
29. What makes your character feel righteously angry?
If someone he knew was an innocent was being used and put at serious risk of harm.
30. What does your character most like to do to celebrate his birthday?
Leon hasn't really celebrated his birthday in years. Mostly because he's on the job, so it tends to slip his mind.
o Pick your character's favorite birthday and write it up in narrative form.
o Pick your character's least favorite birthday and write it up in narrative form.
I may or may not do the above later.
