1. What is your character's least favorite holiday or celebration?
He really doesn't have one, probably because he's worked through all of them for the past fourteen years. They haven't really gained any importance one way or another yet.
2. For whom did your character buy birthday gifts last year? What did he get for them?
His wife Jun, his brother-in-laws, a few friends. I'd have to look them up but I know they were tailored to their likes and interests and high quality.
3. Does your character believe in ghosts, the occult, aliens, or the supernatural? If so, why?
Yes. He's a vampire hunter on his own world, his family has a history that includes fairy tales as reality, he's been to the nexus, He lives in the Gatchaman series Utoland, and he's been to Silent Hill and Raccoon City and has met members of the BPRS (Hellboy Universe).
4. Does your character believe he has had any personal encounters with ghosts, the occult, aliens, or the supernatural?
See above. *g*
5. Does your character believe in astrology, palmistry, tarot, or other methods of divination?
He's had a girlfriend who believes in it, has checked it out a few times himself, but puts no store in it. The closest he ever came to believing in it was through the actions of an old Holy Man in his world's Serena, Mexico.

I've managed to keep him consistent enough in characterization that the personality profile memes are often fairly accurate.
6. Has your character ever been to an astrologer, palmist, or other psychic? If so, what predictions were made for him? How does he feel about them, and have they come true?
Nope. Old girlfriend has done it on hs behalf, but he pretty much disregarded the information.
7. How does your character feel about sex? What mores and morals does he apply to it?
It's something to be done with someone you actually care about. When single, he's extremely protective of himself that way because vampires on his world use it as a weapon (and he's had a few BAD relationships). When with someone, it's an extension of his emotional connection with that person. He doesn't quite elevate it to sacred, but close. By the same token, anything goes in the actual act, and he understands that his own standards are not everyone elses. He confines himself to himself when not attached.
8. What sort of relationship did (or does) your character have with his parents?
Standard good relationship. Loved them, respected them. Sometimes at odds because, well, most kids are at some point. He misses them--a lot more than he lets on.
9. If someone asked your character what the most important rule to live by was, how would he answer?
He'd quote the Desiderata, or at least point in that direction.
10. What is the worst gift your character ever received?
If you use 'gift' loosely, it would be a brand his last girlfriend burned into his inner left thigh, close to his scrotum.
11. Has your character ever deliberately set out to emotionally hurt someone?
...Not really. He can get pretty assy with offhand remarks with people he's lost respect for, but overall he's never set out to intentionally grind someone's emotions into the ground.
12. Describe one unconscious drive, ambition or goal your character possesses that he would never consciously admit to herself or to others.
That he's so afraid of losing his loved ones that he would totally ruin himself to keep them safe.
13. Detail one secret shame your character feels.
Murdering his parents. They wound up infected because of his vendetta against the vampire who killed his best friend.
14. What is the best meal your character ever had?
Believe it or not, the first breakfast Jun ever cooked him. She can't cook, but she tried--and that meant far more to him than the taste of the food.
15. Is there anyone your character despises?
Not really. There's a few peoples' heads he'd like to knock against a wall a few times and try and rattle their brains into some sort of reality, but he doesn't despise anyone.
16. Is there anyone your character would die to protect?
If that's what needs to happen, that's what will happen. He's always put other people before himself in that way.
17. What is the worst news your character has ever received? How did he handle it?
Any death of a loved one tends to take a few whacks at his emotions. He mourns, gets quiet for a while, honors them, and then moves on. He will remember them once a year though.
18. Your character just received an envelope. Whatever it is, the idea of opening it fills him with dread. What is it? And what happens when he opens it?
...He'd have to get over the curiosity first. Generally though, it falls in with the rest of his fears--something bad has happened to someone he cares about. (Gee, look, a theme).
19. How does your character feel about his government?
That it's divided, flawed, but has some good points along with the bad. He trusts the part of the government he works for to keep an eye on his back, but he knows that could change easily enough and at any moment.
20. Does your character care about politics? How vehemently, and what are his views?
He pays attention because where he lives now there's a lot of in-fighting and back stabbing going on as well as a polical invasion by literal space aliens. Usually though, he just keeps his head down.
21. Is there any political issue that could motivate your character to violence?
Unless you count verbal vehemency, no.
22. List five things that could motivate your character to use violence.
While doing his job. (Killing vampires and monsters)
Protecting another person or people.

If loved ones have been hurt and/or killed.

When dealing with vampires/monsters during the course of his job.
To protect another person or people if there is no other way to protect them (including evac).
If left with no other choice when defending himself.

24. List several phrases your character is fond of uttering. Where did he pick them up?
'Mi corazon y alma' (My heart and soul)--an endearment for his wife and used often (often shortened to 'Mi corazon')
'Talk to Me'--when he wants information and wants it now.
25. How does your character feel about romantic relationships?
He lives for the one he's in.
26. What is your character's romantic history?
16-17 yr old: One crush and one girlfriend in high school (6 months--ended when she confessed she was also sleeping with their mutual best friend)
24-26 yr old: 'Friends with benefits' with a fellow hunter/wife of a fellow hunter. Ended when she died of inoperable cancer (he knew she had it when they started).
28 yrs old: Dated a hunter from a rival group, left after six months because of violence and non-consensual acts (like the brand on his inner thigh)
31 yrs old-Present: Met, dated, married his current wife and intends it to be a lifetime commitment.
27. What is the best romantic relationship your character has ever had?
His current one.
28. What is the worst romantic relationship your character has ever had?
The one before his current one--woman was out of her mind and took it out on him.
29. If your character hasn't yet settled down with someone, what could motivate him to do so? If he has, what could motivate him to change his mind again?
Derek's in it for the rest of his life. He means 'my heart and soul' in a literal as well as romantic sense. There will not be another after Jun if he loses her.
30. If your character has a romantic partner, would that person ever cheat on him?
At one time, he believed that Ken--Jun's onetime leader, friend, adoptive brother and a former lover, could have stolen her away from him. Now that she's chosen Derek over Ken, when Ken was still around, he no longer feels that is the case.
Describe the circumstances under which your character's partner might cheat on him.
Ken, because she still loves him and he's somewhat of an irresistible draw for her emotionally. But not any more.
Describe the kind of person who could convince your character's partner to cheat on him.
She'd probably kill them for trying to convince her. Literally. Jun is very territorial and protective of Derek.
31. Would your character ever cheat on a romantic partner?
No.
Describe the circumstances under which your character might cheat on his partner.
He wouldn't. The normal means that would force someone to go against that (Drugs, getting drunk) are simply unavailable to him thanks to his immune system, and mentally, he just doesn't work that way.
Describe the kind of person who could convince your character to cheat on his partner.
They would have to be able to imitate his wife perfectly, right down to scent and biology, and be willing to do the deed themselves. Derek would tell anyone else to go fuck themselves.
