French Canadians in Domestic Bliss: The Primer

(aka an excuse for a picspam)

So hockey players, especially the single ones, often have roommates. It makes sense, they probably didn't grow up in the city they're playing in, they're never sure how long they're going to be there and the guys they know the best are the ones they play and practice with day in and day out.

This is a little bit different.

So, this is Danny Briere.

And this is Claude Giroux.

They live together with Briere's three kids and two dogs. Their lives are like curtain fic and I am not even exaggerating. Here, let me link you to some of the MANY articles that the local media has written about their living situation. It also helped that they were both selected to go to the All Star game that just happened this past weekend.

- 6ABC Feature - It all started with this video. This was the first time the guys talked about being housemates."Who does the dishes?"

"We have a dishwasher."
- Briere has earned respect of PhillyHe found a roommate for his house, Claude Giroux, who has been like a big brother to Briere’s sons. He found a way to be a professional athlete and a full-time father. And most importantly, he found an inner peace for himself and his boys - an emotional place he hoped they could share.
- Briere selected to replace Iginla on All-Star teamBut, it turns out that the Briere boys are stoked to go to the All-Star game to experience it with their dad - and "Uncle" Claude Giroux, who happens to be Briere's live-in roommate.
- Giroux and Briere ready to be rivals for a day"There's no doubt that Claude was very deserving," said Briere, who assisted on Giroux's goal against Montreal. "There's lots of guys on our team I thought were deserving, but Claude was at the top. The way he's played, the way he's matured into his role, there's no doubt he deserved to be there right from the get-go."
- Flyers' Giroux hopes just not to be picked last in All-Star draftBriere, who was the MVP of the 2007 All-Star Game in Dallas, has been giving Giroux pointers. But when asked who was more excited for the game, Briere didn't hesitate.

"Probably our three boys," he said.
- As All-Stars Briere and Giroux not friends, but rivals“It would’ve been nice to be on the same team,” Giroux said. “But now we’re playing against each other, so it’s definitely going to be pretty intense. It’s going be a lot of fun, I think. I just can’t wait for the game.”

In fact, Giroux joked, Briere had better keep his head up.

“His three kids are chirping, too,” Giroux said. “And they’re saying that blue [Team Lidstrom] is going to win, so I’ve got to prove them wrong.”
- Family matters for Flyers' Briere, GirouxIn our last episode, for example, Claude decided the guest room adjacent to his needed some upgrades, including a new mattress. Danny needed some things for the boys' rooms as well, so off they went, together, to Raymour & Flanigan.

"They see us come in together, shopping for furniture together," Briere said. "And they're, like, two Flyers shopping together? For furniture? And they started laughing. They said, 'You guys are just like a couple.' "
- Single in SJ and Lovin' It - Scroll down to the bottom.Giroux lives in Haddonfield with teammate Danny Briere, and the two venture out when they can. “We don’t have much time to go out, but it is good to get away from hockey and relax. Danny’s been in the league longer, so he knows what to expect during the season. He’s been able to help me on and off the ice.”
- Home Team Advantage: Flyer All Stars make unconventional family workDuring the summer, Briere, 33, asked Giroux, 23, if he'd be interested in moving into his five-bedroom Haddonfield home, which three years earlier had been rebuilt completely.

"After his divorce he had a big house to himself and asked if I wanted to move in with him and his three kids," Giroux recalls. "I told him I would think about it. He kept asking me and I thought it was a pretty good idea, so I finally decided to do it."
- Briere after being selected to Team Lidstrom - (video)"Well, you know what it does is bragging rights at home. I have a friend that's still sitting in the crowd."
ARE YOU GETTING THE IDEA YET? YEAH. YEAH.

TIME FOR PICTURES! :D :D :D

Danny and his three boys at the All Star Game.

I just wanted an excuse to post these pictures of Giroux and his super fluffy ginger hair.

Awesome.

Before leaving for the All Star Game.

When they were down in Raleigh they went to visit a kid's cancer center.

During the game, after Giroux scored his goal, he gave Danny a pat on the shoulder.

THESE ARE PUBLICATIONS THAT ARE REAL.

THEY ARE PRINTED ON REAL PAPER.

IN CONCLUSION: I would like all of the stories where they go shopping for furniture and are completely oblivious that they are married until they then of course, discover that they are married. And then there is boning! :D
