[ Just going to....watch Jack for a minute, trying to figure out what he's doing, before giving up and deciding to ask. ]

What are you taking notes about? Looks pretty important.

[Jack doesn't respond at first. He's too busy sketching what's supposed to be a Gengar over the door facing diagram he's made.]

Hummm? Oh! Preparing for Halloween. It is important.

...Already? Halloween's at the end of the month; you've got plenty of time, you know.

A month is hardly time at all! I should have been planning...since last Halloween!

You really take Halloween that seriously? Most people just buy candy and dress up a little.

[Jack draws himself up and thumps a hand to his chest.]

Where I'm from, we spend all year preparing. It's our job to bring Halloween to everyone else. I let that slip up last year, being stuck here and all.

All year? That seems pretty extreme...I mean, what do you do the whole year?

[Jack fiddles with his pen.]

Well...there are rehearsals for the specialized haunting areas--and we have to decide on those areas. Our witches try and predict when the best thunderstorms will be--can't have a good ghost story without one of those!

There are our human specialists which go out into the world to find out what sort of things people are afraid of--it's a lot of behind the scenes stuff but it really picks up when the leaves start to turn...

...Human specialists. [ Okay, either this guy is joking or mentally unstable. He's hoping it's the former. ]

Man, you almost had me going there for a minute. Hauntings, witches...you really thought it through.

[Jack makes a bit of a face.]

I thought it through because that was my job back home. I ran the show and now I'm stuck here and have thousands upon thousands of new legends to research. I have to pick through the stories and figure out which ones have trickled down through time and secured themselves deep in the human brain. Do people here fear rats eating their flesh in the middle of the night or these...purple mice? Are they scared Gengars will take them away or are there real, true old phantoms here?

Or maybe they're scared they'll disappear. Just...disappear like they sometimes do.

[RANT RANT RANT RANT--oh. Oh right. He was going to make Jell-O for everyone. His frown disappears instantly.]

Do you know where I might find a mold of a human brain?

Uh. I don't know what people are afraid of, although disappearing seems to be a good thing....but your best bet at finding a mold would be the department store, I guess?

[ Even though he doubts they sell stuff like that. ]
