For 2) use the Talk Test.

This simple test judges your effort by whether you can talk or not when exercising. Basically, while exercising, if you can:

sing - you’re not doing enough and won’t be improving your overall fitness, certainly not your heart-lung (cardiovascular) fitness

talk (but not sing) - you’re probably exercising safely and effectively

can only gasp and have difficulty getting words out - you’re going too hard. Slow down (unless you’re sprinting).

If you are doing yoga there should be a four hour gap between meals and exercise, and for gym it is a two hour gap. The main idea is that the stomach should be empty!! A lot of the workout plan does have stomach exercises. The stress may vary as per the plan for the day. Also you do want to ensure you are burning the fat and not the carbohydrates that you just had a few minutes back.

If you feel tired then I guess your routine needs a change. It is not working for you. The other thing could be that you aren't aware of the importance of breathing. Any form of workout, you have to pay attention to breathing. If you don't breathe right, you are not building your stamina but just damaging tissues.

Warm ups are very essential. Actually if you stop in between it pains more than if you hadn't stopped! :(

That information was very useful.

I guess I should increase the time gap between my breakfast and the workout - though the stuff I eat wouldn't be sufficient for even a sparrow :-)

But proper breathing and warm-ups are already in.

An addition- the breakfast itself is essential to restore the glucose levels in the blood. Besides, if it is light enough, it will only help you increase the _net_ amount of calories you burn.
