M*A*S*H

We've been watching M*A*S*H on on TVLand pretty much every day. I've always loved this show. But, in particular, the episodes where Major Sidney Freedman (the psychiatrist) is featured. I like how they get into these really deep issues when he's a guest star. I like seeing the more serious side of these characters

Oh I have always loved M*A*S*H. And I never made the connection of Major Freedman as being married to Diane Arbus! That's so cool. I love her photos and I always adored his episodes.

I didn't even realize who the actor was until I looked at his IMDb page recently!

I have to confess that I adored Major Freedman and considered him very sexy, hee! Yeah, episodes with him generally upped the quality of a show that was already over the bar in a lot of ways. Mostly though, I appreciated how the show was an ensemble, and that the interactions and motivations of each character fitted so well to who they were and what they were doing. Primo company work, you know?

I really like his voice. It's very nice to listen to-that's why I like "Dear Sigmund" so much. It's just a lot of Major Freedman talking.

I agree about the ensemble aspect. Some characters had their own episodes (like "Hawkeye" where he had to keep talking to stay awake because he had a concussion and he was the only main cast member in the whole episode) and then they went and did episodes that featured some characters that were usually in the background. Watching the reruns really makes me wish that today's sitcoms would follow this example.

I don't watch any of the sitcoms on TV today. I can't stand them. I tried to get into Community, but a few characters got grating after a while and I couldn't make myself watch it anymore.
