Feeling strangely fine

Aug 08, 2010 23:02

It really has been forever since I posted!  Sure kiss of death to blogging is to promise more blogs.  I've been lax in every arena of the internets, really.  Real life, you know - gets in the way.  I can't promise much of anything as far as being super-involved on LJ, but if you look me up on FB, I'll friend you there ( Read more... )

life: pwning it, friends: liss, fandom: hp, activities: half marathon

I'm SO glad I got to see you at Infinitus, however brief it was! And the fact that you brought very unexpected asplashofink (L, add me if you want, it's up to you) was a lovely surprise. I feel I should apologize for shrieking, though.

I'm glad you're getting things back on track in general, and taking care of yourself. These things aren't as easy as they seem - I know this all too well. *hugs*

Oh, and I've seen We Are Scientists - was not impressed, but it was over 2 years ago now. Maybe they've improved? Keep hearing about the Black Keys but haven't heard any of their music.

It was great to see you too.

I'm more into the Scientists' stage show, especially since their latest album is more like their first label release (and not at all like their 2nd effort, which is probably when you saw them). Plus, handsome men, hello.

Be sure you take care of yourself as well, madam.

Dumped my big, clunky running shoes and orthotics once I realized THEY were messing up my hips, ankles and feet. Might lose a few toenails, but losing the excruciating hip pain is a big plus.

So what sort of shoes (if any) are you running in now? Or have you gone to the barefoot running thing?

Not barefoot (although I did have a dream where I was running barefoot), just with "regular" off-the-rack running shoes that simply felt good when I put them on. Amazing difference in how far and how fast I can go. Now, to rebuild that hip.... :\

I saw the Black Keys a couple weeks ago. They were pretty good live--very high energy. (The place I went was kind of low energy so it was weird, but I think they could be really good if you were with the right crowd.)

I've really been thinking about switching to the Vibram 5 Fingers. I don't have terrible running problems, but when I get into longer distances my hips start bothering me. I've heard good things about them--is that what you're doing?

I've seen the Black Keys a few times, mainly in outdoor venues, but of course *I* think they're awesome, so. :)

While I'm not entirely sold on the Vibram thing, I'm having much more luck with off-the-rack shoes rather than being fitted for them at the running store. The more natural, the better, is my new motto, for sure.
