i think so long as it's kept in mind that people did this not as a game, but for our freedom, that's a great way to spend a part of your rememberance day. who all went?
I know that war is not a game and I'm sure those who were on the field know this as well. As for those who went, the people that you know are my brother, Chris W and Mark W (Chris's brother) and myself of course. I don't think you know the other guys but we had about 14 people I think. take care Raymond
a unique way to remember, for certain. though i probably would abstain out of respect for the dead, i don't know exactly what the act means and represents to you, so i won't criticise.
i will say that this is better than what i see among my fellow soldiers, shameful as it may be. i was told this morning that i missed a great party at the house of one of the section commanders. i'm glad i did. this is not an occasion to drink like swine and be stupid.
Good to hear from you, I was wondering what your opinion would be. Well to tell you the truth, when I first heard about it I felt a little weird but I agreed to go along. I just found that there was something about it that made me feel a greater appreciation for what they went through. Although what we were doing was out of fun, some of the feeling are similar, not the same but similar, and I just felt very thankful after I thought about it. I'm happy to hear that you didn't go to that party though, a drunken fest on Remembrance day seems wrong but some people may say the same about the tradition my friends have started. I know that what we are doing is nothing like war but I felt that it led me to think a lot more about the sacrifice those people have made.
