A lot of visual effects and a lot of very delicate set/stage work. The film uses the special effects to give it the comic book look but they try to use sets to really make it feel real. The art department did an amazing job. I managed to flip through the graphic novel in Maui but I haven't actually sat down and read it. I planning on getting a copy some day and reading it though. I know everything about the event (the battle of Thermopoli) from my Classical Mythology class and my Greek art and architecture class. It's pretty cool. Critics are saying it will take the place of the God Father on the top 100 films. I don't know, I guess we'll have to see. The director seems to have really taken advantage of the stage set up and seems to have some incredible cinematography going on. talk to you soon Raymond
Rotten Tomatoes has it at 60% right now...but that's pre-release
Taking over the Godfather....won't happen but from what I've seen in sneak peeks and from studying the video journals...looks to have an incredible crew working on it
Me and b8 snuck away for the midnight showing and i will affirm rays comment about the cinematography. I won't post any impressions to keep it fresh for you but looking forward to what people have to say about it.
I'm happy you said that. I just saw it tonight and what a lot of people don't get is that it's based off a graphic novel. The Director's goal was to bringing the art of Frank Miller to the screen and thus the stylistic choice. I thought it was a refreshing take on things. I'm happy you liked it. It really was visually stunning. Take Care Raymond
i checked out the graphic novel a bit yesterday when i was at chapters and i was really impressed with how accurate the movie was to the novel. you could definitley tell when some scenes in the movie were made the way they were just to accurately portray the artwork of the novel.
