The Heavy Metal fencing tournament was fun. Chris was good company for the trip down to A & M, and he had an excellent collection of music for the road. He also liked my Rob Dougan CD, which made me happy (I hope Dougan will come out with another CD sooooon... his music is like vanilla cake with chocolate icing for my soul).

I'm surprised I managed to sleep at all down there. Since it was seven people to a two bed bedroom, I thought that it would be noisy throughout the night (especially with Jon there). But it wasn't. I was very grateful.

I got my butt kicked at tournament, but that was no surprise. I do a lot of what Jon calls "standing still and doing nothing," which consists of a failed attempt at getting into my opponent's head and trying to figure out their next move. So, yeah, I'm doing my best to not think more than I need to while on the strip. Retreating during parries would also be wise. And my footwork... needs improvement muchly.

Our team (Curtis, Chris, and myself) were knocked out in the first round basically, but the people who beat us ended up being first place anyhow. On the other hand, Alex, Michael, and Jon's team ended up getting second place. Yay.

I was impressed with the campus, and the Rec Center in particular. I reeeaaalllyyyy wanted to go run around on their track a few times, but I ran out of time. It took me about thirty minutes to try and find Chris's car again, since I needed to pick up a few things before they started the foil events.

Currently contemplating A-kon and wondering if I'll be able to cosplay. Hey, obsoletereality, are you or anyone from the PSHS anime club going to do a group rate thing for the tickets?
