i just found out via shelteriffic that there is a bistro in tribeca that regularly has a cincinnati night. as i am not from cincinnati, this should not excite me too much. only it does, because they fly in graeter's ice cream. which i miss oh so terribly. everyone around me is always going on about the goodness of, say, ben and jerry's and i merely ( Read more... )

I love both the AmeriCONE dream AND anything black raspberry chip related. There was one company that used to make black raspberry avalanche which had vanilla bean ice cream swirled in with dark chocolate chunks and I would eat it for the rest of my life if I could.

oo, that sounds yum. one of the best things about the graeter's - in addition to how insanely creamy it is - is that calling the chocolate in it "chips" is rather misleading. really they are gigantic chunks of really excellent chocolate. so, so good.
the americone dream i adore because i think you can never go wrong with caramel or sugar cone.
man, i love ice cream.

Go, go, Ohio desserts!

And speaking of nostalgic addictions, which is the best Agatha Christie to start with?

Livejournal love,
William

P.S. Did you know that the immortal Margaret Rutherford played Miss Marple?

hm, i did not know that. i've never actually seen any of the many, many movies made of the books.

frankly, i do not recommend that you start reading agatha christie, because you are even more obsessive than i am and i don't think i want to be responsible for that. of course, maybe you won't really like her books, in which case i won't have to worry. that being said, "the mysterious affair at styles" is pretty much where i started. it's the first poirot and a pretty good indication of things to come. that being said, it's an hercule poirot, and i rather like miss marple better.

Glad to hear the kids are still reading in the summer! Plus, you've got to get them before Harry Potter comes out and they just read that over and over for the rest of the summer :)

i feel sort of obnoxious, because i'm constantly accosting any one under the age of sixteen who happens to be in the library. it's so sales-clerky. but the cool thing about summer kids is that they're kids who want to be in the library, not just kids who need someplace to hang after school. plus, i was always the dorky girl who hung out at the library and i loved the summer reading program when i was young.
and the latter point is true, although i must confess i will be doing my part to fuel their potter-mania. not that ms. rowling needs my help ...

being a librarian is my dream job. i just always feel happy and safe in libraries. but that's funny, i never thought of a library as being a busy place.
