Work is kicking my ass. Sorry for the lack of updates here. We've cast six beams out of 22, broken 3, and have usable data from 1. Spent all day Saturday breaking beams, which was fun, but I don't feel like I've had a weekend at all. Sunday night babysat for a friend's kid. I've forgotten how much energy 4 year olds have. So yeah. Wednesday we poured our beams. The concrete was too hot, it set up too quickly, and I now have 3 22' long beams half full of ruined concrete that I have to clean up.

And then today, I came home, and my bike has been stolen.

Just felt like complaining.

Don't expect me around much this week. My best friend is getting married Saturday and I'm doing the maid of honor stuff (though not actually in the wedding), and my boss is being a pain. *sigh*

I burned all the hair off on my right arm while checking the grill. Oddly enough, the skin is completely undamaged. Burnt hair reeks. Really, really bad.

I would like to announce that I now, officially, have a BS of Architectural Engineering, and am now an Engineer in Training (EIT). Yay for me!!! :D

Today I got my take home final for Fracture Mechanics. I expected a problem set. What I got was a 10-12 page paper on an overview of Fracture Mechanics and it's application to an offshore base. Due in a week. Lovely. On top of my final design project due next Friday, and something else (don't know what yet) for Finite Elements. Anybody want ( Read more... )

So we've been working on these group homework problems in Fracture Mechanics. Now normally I don't like group homework, but these haven't been so bad. Except that Jerry hasn't been showing up. Tornado season has started. I got up this morning to go to early church, and was driving down the highway when my parents called. There was a severe thunderstorm warning. Today I got offered a funded research position!! Which means if I take it, not only can I quit my job now, but I have work through the summer, and into next year.
