I miss you and the wonderful way you can make shit flow from your ass! A three paragrah entry about cassette tapes that even made me go to my collection and remember the good old days. Wow how I miss that!Would you write my term papers for me? See you in a couple of weeks, Love Adina

I was laughing sooo hard when I read your reply. I had to wait a minute until I could actually type. Your humor is outstanding!

You forgot to mention the pain it was to find the song you wanted to hear...fast forwarding, rewinding, flipping from side A to side B, total chaos. And the sound quality, come on! I tried making a mixed tape when I was 10, and it took so long and it messed up so much I cried. I welcome new technology with open arms. Goodbye junky tapes, hello progress.

Hmmm, I think of the arduous task of finding the song you want as a way of seperating the men from the boys, so to speak. And making a mix tape just requires more art than CDs, so you actually have to know what you are doing. I think it basically comes down to a classical versus romantic outlook on everything, not just your medium to hear your music.

My dear, for all your strong arguments in favor of the cassette tape...you severely weaken your argument by referring to crappy artists in it. Yes, one may be able to purchase 5 Phil Collins tapes for 20$, but why on earth would you want to? I don't think that Phil Collins has 5 tapes worth of listenable material ( ... )

Ahh, but to carry the analogy to a ridiculous extreme, cassetes have two holes to fill....

I'm afraid I've never seen a DJ foolish enough to try and scratch on a cd. I've heard recordings of people using digital devices to simulate scratching with a cd, but it's laughable. The advantages of a digital format are so numerous, you can't argue against them. But it will never sound as good as analog.

Do you happen to have an 8 track player? If so, I'd love to learn how to use one. If not, I'd love for you to accompany me on a hunt around Houston garage sales and thrift stores to find one.

I agree 100%. However, I can testify that mix tapes still get produced. Not only that, they get recorded in lo-fi audio hooked up to a mic, Watfords turntables, and Zach Berry's laptop running Reason sequencer. Thats right, white boy rapping mix tapes. Cd's are a long way from being cheap enough to record straight onto. And they will never do it well because it's digital ( ... )
