Working Class Hero

Yesterday was the best morning I've had in the past month. I was woken up at 730am by a phone call from Jhade (climbing buddy) trying to convince me that I should ditch my morning classes because it was going to be a beautiful day. That early in the morning, it is much easier to persuade me, plus I just didn't really feel like an 8:30 lecture on ( Read more... )

Oh my freakin' god, Diana, I think you are the only person I know who would feel that guilty about skipping a couple classes. It's not like you skipped them to sleep in or something, you took advantage of a beautiful day and had a blast. Everyone needs to take a break from it all, and you did it the best way possible. I am proud of you. Not only for that but also the presentation you did.
As for the "White Trash" party you should have done what my friend Genevieve did and wear a trashbag with pieces of kleenex and paper and other white things taped to it, hence "white trash."

Well I'm trying not to make the stereotypicle opinions of all frats and sororities, not knowing anything about them at Emory, but at least speaking for the florida frat community, if you guys were mixing with Pike's you probably made the right choice. At UCF the Pike house has something called flex fridays, were they stand out in the medians with their pitbulls, and pose like assholes so we can all know how beautiful they think they are.

Anyways, I finally got to try out those climbing shoes I got and they blew my mind. I can't believe how much more freedom I have to put my weight on little surfaces and cracks. It's so much damn fun, I wish I'd started climbing earlier.

While the guys in Pike that I associate with are quite upstanding, most do fit the typical frat boy stereotype.

Woot for climbing shoes; I didn't see what the fuss was about until I tried them as well. Last week on my shift I noticed a young boy, 8, staring wontonly at the wall. After talking to the mother, I agreed with her permission to start teaching him to climb. I know what you mean by wishing that I had gotten started sooner, I would have loved if someone took me under their wing in that regard.
