Set a doughnut on fire and the flame will be blue.

Honestly, I don't see how waking up to "Mad World" is all that bad of an omen. The song is gorgeous, perhaps hauntingly so, but gorgeous nonetheless. (We were just talking about it, remember?) I mean, yeah, the song is kinda melancholy...but I don't know if I'd consider it a "song of ill omen." Although, I'm not exactly sure what I would consider a song of ill omen other than perhaps Mozart's Requiem...hmmm...now you have me thinking...

The fact that it's a gorgeous song is not in question in the least, more that I find it incredibly depressing and so isn't exactly the best song since I'm not typically a morning kind of person to begin with.

In the morning I prefer something infectiously upbeat or something so annoying that I will jump out of bed to turn it off all that much faster!

I just realized that someone's been reading her Calvin and Hobbes. Genius. The strip was absolute genius. I have all of them myself. I started reading them when I was 7.

Nothing gets past you, Vintastic! Trav very nicely gave me the book of Wattson's (creator's name?) 30 or so favorite Sunday strips from the 10 years that the strip ran. The best part was that in addition to the color strip, it had the original sketch before print, so you could see how it had been altered, and a short description by the artist on what was going on when he drew it. Definitely a worthy addition to my book collection.
