A little context: This boss prefers to plan day by day and communicate by text message. So I would tell him what days I could work the next week and he would text me the night before each day to tell me when to come in. If I wanted to have that conversation before 9pm, I would have to text him first. In no case did I ever just show up without first

I don't mind losing him as a boss. I'm just worried that I won't get my money. I need that money for rent.

The boss actually mailed me a check for my back pay. He also remembered to give me an end-of-season bonus (for $50 when all his cagey talk about said bonus put it $100).
