Summary: Sebastian serves Ciel dessert. Set after episode 20, contains spoilers.
The next day, Sebastian serves bittersweet Belgian chocolate and raspberry Charlotte.
The dessert, pleasingly arranged with out of season raspberries, looks perfect upon the china but Ciel has little appetite. The raspberries are too red, the way Aberlin's blood had looked as Ciel had tried to explain that Aberlin's sacrifice had been for nothing. Ciel didn't have a future to protect, but the foolish detective had died with a smile on his face.
Ciel's not sure if he's more angry at himself or Aberlin. He knows he's furious at Sebastian, but there's no way he can punish the demon. Sebastian had carried out the letter of their contract; it's Ciel's own fault he hadn't been more careful. No matter what he may wish, Sebastian does not care for him.
And Sebastian may be all Ciel has in the end. One by one, the people who would support Ciel are being whittled away. First his parents, then Madame Red, then Lau and Aberlin... Ciel is very aware of how little he has left. But he is the Phantomhive, and he is strong enough to rely on his own power.
Sebastian stands waiting for his master to eat, and Ciel has to force himself to lift the fork. There is no way he can show any sign of weakness in front of his manservant.
The taste of the dessert is perfect, as expected, but the chocolate clogs his throat and Ciel finds it difficult to swallow.
