I have to thank you for that reference to the delayed sleep phase syndrome article (and through that, to its relative, the non-24-hour sleep/wake syndrome). It may not surprise you to hear that you're not the only sufferer on your flist -- if you combine that description with the one of the longer-than-normal internal 'day,' you've described my entire life. And despite extensive adventures in medicine, including some intended to address the chronic insomnia secondary to that inability to sleep before three (or four, or five) in the morning, I have never seen a clear description of it before, or heard it mentioned.
So you have all my sympathy, whatever the people around you may say. I know it isn't laziness, nor yet a lack of a decent respect to the opinion of mankind. I know it.
I did have some slight hope I'd find the odd fellow sufferer. It is particularly heartening to know I'm not alone given that I have to get up in 4 hours time...
