Anyone who has downloaded and using the NaNo edition of Scrivener for Windows (or anyone who uses the program in general): is it worth it?

I've been looking lustilyhard at it, especially as a motivational tool for an upcoming writing sprint by a long-time writing meander-er, but my beloved laptop already run slow. I'm worried that my poor baby will ( Read more... )

I've downloaded the beta trial for windows. It stays running until the 7th unless you buy it, but you'll have time to export all of your documents if you end up not liking it. I like it. You can download a Nano template off their site and download a tutorial vid from within the program. The tutuorial video is very helpful. I'd read the Nano forums thread on Scrivener. It's under 'Special Offers from Nano Sponsors'. Just make sure to unzip and rename it, plus read the readme text file. There was a rush to get it out before Nano began, so some features aren't fully functioning yet. You'll need to save your files as rft before importing them. I'm going to import all of mine under the research folder. Everything in the draft is compiled at the end. Chapter files are combined and all that. It'll be interesting to see how well it does that.

So, would you say it's like any other writing program as far as processing power is concerned?

Also, the 12th of next month? That's pretty much a two-week trial.

I'm sorry, the 12th of December, the month after Nano. *head desk*

I'm blind. It's the Nano template that you need to unzip and rename. When you import it, only select the scrivx folder, not the MacOS

I was considering starting a nano comm and hosting word sprints/write-ins on chat for people in Eastern and Central time zones.

lol

Well, I'm looking for a support community of some kind wherein I won't get lost, so...I'm in.

Still haven't clearly decided on a plot-line, though. *sobs*
