I can hold a grudge pretty well. But I have absolutely NOTHING on my dad. He can tell you what happened 30 years ago which is why he won’t go to a certain place now. Whereas my mom was more of the huge angry outburst and then quickly forgive and forget type.

I left a church exactly like that! They did everything to appease the older generation there, and still to this day (after almost 10 year), continue to do so. I only go for weddings and things like you say. No matter how many positive changes the younger people tried to make they never worked out. And then the pastor wonders why no new people end up staying for very long. So glad you got out of that toxic situation.

That sounds like an awful situation. The people from the church were just appalling. I am so glad that you are emotionally thriving.
