The thing was, after that, it didn’t seem as though either of them could think of anything to say.

Argh, Buffy's friends are infuriatingly IC, trying to be caring but ending up heavy handed and a bit shaming. Poor Buffy, she's so beleaguered, but she's really trying her best.

They could put a soul in him, it seemed, but they still couldn’t quite make him teenage girl appropriate.

There's something both hot and very tender in this sentence.

I got a shiver at the mention of Spike not being able to touch Buffy after whatever this dragon plan is. Ouch :( no wonder she wants some loving now.

Ah, the Scoobies... I am a committed Xander fan, because I do think he tries - Willow I have my own issues with, but I think she always means well too. With Spike for Buffy, I think they are basically just being risk-averse, which is not a bad way to be, but I'm not sure that's a place Buffy thinks she has the luxury to exist in.

And sleepy Spike! This is just my shoutout to that (to me) hilarious perve!shot of Spike in Sleeper with the sheet barely making him decent enough for network TV. So randomly unnecessary, but clearly some deep revelation about Spike's psyche...

And oh yes! What might possibly go wrong with this dragon...

I think this is my favourite chapter so far (even though Willow is being infuriatingly vague). I love that final Spike/Buffy scene.

Oh, yay!! I'm very fond of this chapter too, actually. You can't have a romance where people push and pull against each other forever (at least, maybe, not in the same direction; I'm not actually sure where the fic as a whole sits on the fluff-angst scale, as usual), but I do like the bit where they are right here.

Of course, it's a bit of a cheat, though, because this is also me riffing on Revelations and Sleeper, but I live to riff on episodes already written. ;)
