I had a dream, I dreamed it for you....
So, I love doing crazy things. Awesomely crazy things. This year is no different.
Last year, I had the chance to volunteer at the Quidditch World Cup in New York City. Awesomesauce, right? Right! Well, I'm going back this year to volunteer again. However, as I am broke beyond belief, I need your help. Personally, I need to get out of Connecticut. I need something to do, and the QWC is something absolutely awesome that I want to do.
So! That's where this almost-kickstarter comes in. I need to raise about 100 bucks to make this happen. What is the 100 for, you might ask? Good question! I need money for the bus to NYC, for transportation around the city, and food while I'm there. If I get over 100, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I might make the rewards better, I might see about getting a hotel/better place to sleep, (more about that in a bit), we'll see how much I get.
This is how it works. Either respond to this post to make a 'pledge' or e-mail me at angelicphoenix [at] gmail [dot] com. Pledges will only be collected if I made the 100 minimum. Don't send money right away, please. I won't take money from anyone. Speaking of money, when this is 'funded', there are two ways to send money. First, the aforementioned e-mail is also my Paypal address. Second, I do take money orders/cash via the mail. I'll send an e-mail to pledgers with all the information. This will either succeed or fail by Hallowe'en. I'll need the money on/around November 1, so if that helps, there you have it.
Now, here's the fun stuff. Like any good kickstarter, there are rewards!
For $1, I'll send you a personal e-mail with a scan of a handwritten thank-you note that I'll write just for you. If you'll be at the QWC yourself, I'll give you the note in person and a hug!
For $2, my Portkey co-host Devyn will draw you a quite bad Patronus, and send it to you via e-mail. I'll also send you a hand-written thank-you in e-mail.
For $3, I'll hand-write you a very short story and send you the scan via e-mail. Again, if you'll be at the QWC, I'll give it to you in person.
For $5, I'll call you from the QWC and talk to you for a bit, and describe what I see. (Please, only America for this one. My phone plan'll kill me if I call internationally.)
Also for $5, you can choose to have my Portkey co-host Dani send you a postcard with a Harry Potter Doodle! (and I'll scan you a thank-you.)
For $6, my Portkey co-host Becca will draw you a lovely Patronus and send it to you in the mail, as well as my e-mailed thank-you note. (Four available)
For $7, Devyn will write you a short story about Potions class or Pumpkin class. (four available) (And you'll get a scanned thank-you from me)
For $10, you have a choice. I'll send you a handwritten thank-you postcard either of New York City or Hartford. This one will have to be mailed. I don't have time to do -everything-.
For $11, you can have a skype call with as many of the Portkey staff as we can wrangle. (as well as a thank-you.) You do not need Skype for this, as we can call a telephone. (must be America/Canada)
For $15, you will get a postcard from me (Hartford or NYC) and one from Devyn! (from Michigan)
For $17, I'll write you a four page story, and send you the handwritten manuscript. Again, again, if you're at the QWC, I can give this to you there. (three available)
For $16, Devyn will call you and read a chapter of Bevyn fanfic. (Three available)
For $50, you will get a Portkey Prize Package, details to be announced in a day or so.
And finally, for $60 (Yes, it's expensive. I'm anti-social as hell) I'll have a meal with you in NYC during the World Cup. (weekend of November 11ish) You provide the transportation, I'm not getting you to the city. This one's limited to three, because I don't have that much time. However, if you can get to Hartford, I'll take as many of these as people want. (not limited to any specific day)
Also, everyone who promotes/pledges/anything will get a hug at the World Cup if you're there. Furthermore, these 'levels' aren't solid. If you really want to give me ten bucks, but you'd rather have a phone call, no problem!
