That does make sense maile. And that is probably for some people the way it is..ive heard christians on the radio saying how it is threating the family and marriage and what not, they didn't bash homosexuals for being sinful and wrong....but there are others who are jerks and are intolerant of it. I still dont think either side is right though
that does make sense. and maybe if all marriage was was a tradition, and a christian one, that would be a stronger argument against same-sex marriage. however, it is not only an aspect of society, it is also a union that is recognized by the government. the 'civil union' option that is currently avaliable denies homosexuals many of the rights that married couples are given, and that is wrong. in a lot of ways, it's similar to the seperate-but-equal schools offered to black children when it wasn't legal for blacks and whites to attend the same schools -- they're said to be equal, but the white schools had all the new books and best teachers and nicest facilities. because marriage is not just a christian tradition, it is not fair for christians to say that it challanges their ideals. it is something that the vast majority of society wants, and it's not fair to deny them that. personally, as a catholic who has been raised to go to chruch twice a week, with two priests directly related to me, i don't see how it threatens me at all. i don'
( ... )
I never really thought of it quite that way. I don't think a lot of people really do. Everyone's just out to think that they are being attacked by this. Maybe if more people thought like you, there wouldn't be so many problems...Thanks for the insight!
