They Write Love Songs About This Kind Of Thing

Jan 12, 2005 17:29

Song after Song after Song after Song is written in honor of or because of love. How many do you think were written by a poor soul who was being decieved by the stereotypical idea of whatever love is? THAT would be unfortunate because then all the impressionable smucks who come along years after will base what they think love should be off of these ( Read more... )

dont bash on love songs. Some are real - some aren't - but thats art for you, right? It's all up to your interpretation..

and i thought it was funny - i just finished the book lolita (by nabokov) and one of the captions on the front is "The only true love story of histor." or something to that effect. Its about this deranged man that has sex with a young girl. Anyways .. I'll never stop loving the cure's "love song"

=)

No, I agree with Maile on this one. I think that most love songs are about those short-lived feelings of infatuation that most people experience when they are first attracted to someone. And I don't think those feelings necessarily last very long, and actual "love" is something much deeper and longer lasting. It also harder to write about, and potentially less interesting, since it includes such mundane things like respect and responsibility and compromise and honesty and who is doing the grocery shopping this weekend. On the other hand, I think love is a very personal experience, and therefore is up for interpretation. . . .perhaps there really is no wrong way to describe it, but there is a danger in expecting all love to be the kind that you see in movies or hear in songs. Love is what you make it. I think what is most important is that you do it often.

But that's just my take on the whole thing :-)

Ladeeda....goodbye forever mailleee. Your boy may be overeacting and stupid. We'll still be friends though. Even though im leaving for forever and you'll never hear from or see me again. You can be friends without out any form of contact right? Yes, you can. Well, give him a swift punch/kick in the junk for me and i'll see you later.

We'll still have contact. I guess just not as much hanging out just you and me-ness. I will do that though :)
