My first class has me not nervous at all, just dreading messing something up and looking like I don't know what I'm talking about. I thought I would just easily borrow someone else's class handout, there are several of them on the yahoo group, but I have figured out that none of them really work for my "teaching style" (if I can have a style since this is my first class). So I have to make up my own, which is not a big deal, just mean more over thinking things. What I didn't like about others handouts was that they go into so much detail on certain parts that they lose me, and I know what I'm doing. How can a complete beginner take all that in and not get confused. Perhaps its just the way they lay things out. I think I'm going to lay it out like an instruction manual. This is how it works, and then the "troubleshooting" section. Not put all the what-ifs throughout, you don't need to worry about the what-ifs, if you don't have a problem. But that section will be there if you have a problem once you go home. I guess its a bit like reading Collingwood vs. Crockett.
What is your teaching style? What is the best way for you to learn? every detail? just the basics?
