I'm currently a senior in high school, and am trying to decide what college to go to. Quinnipiac has been my top choice for quite awhile. What I was wondering, though, was how my experience on Quinnipiac would be if I lived off campus? I can't dorm for various reasons, but I'm concerned that if I don't, I'm not going to have many friends or much of ( Read more... )

I just graduated from QU last May and I was a 'commuter' all four years (I lived in Hamden). I was nervous about not having any friends when I started college, however I quickly learned that there are an abundance of things to do on campus to get involved and meet new people. This girl's dead on - whether you rush, do the school paper, radio station or whatever you'll have plenty of opportunities to meet people. In fact, the person who's most infamous in our class for knowing everyone was a commuter up until this semester.

The most imporant part of college is meeting people and sharing ideas. It's not as easy to do this off campus, but it's certainly not impossible. Though I'm a commuter and a part time student, I'm president of one club, and participate in several others. As you make friends you'll probably find that you'll be living on campus more often, whether or not you have a place of your own off campus. Most folks are pretty welcoming once you get to know them.

What are you planning to major in?
