Life revolves around music, much as music revolves around life. Music is so intrinsically ingrained in society, one wonders what one would do without it occasionally. Although the very essence of music in society has made me wonder if anyone else has thought about this before, tell me if you have. People listen to music for lots of reasons. There's the obvious ones, like, a song is good to dance to. Or it has a really pretty melody. Or gets me pumped. But i think it goes even beyond that.I think when we listen to music, we're looking for someone to express how we're feeling in a beautiful way. Especially when you're upset or down. Then listening to music fills two voids. It makes you feel that there's someone who understands completely, and makes you feel like there's a connection with someone else. And its saying, there is beauty in this. You can turn this feeling into something beautiful. I LOVE that feeling when you're listening to a song when you're unhappy, or even when you're happy, and you just go, wow, this is EXACTLY how i feel right now.

thats my opinion.

Music is UnifyingAcross the board music creates a sense of belonging and being part of something wether thats through a connection to a song, as a bridge between or being a part of music, a sense of belonging or connection draws people to it. Music is a universal language that transcends communicatory barriers wether they be linguistic or the fact that there is no word for how you feel it's expression in a pure form just as a smile portrays happiness so too does a series of bright chords no matter where you live. Since the soul is universal it does not discriminate as to weather or not you are literate or what language you speak or what culture you belong to so it would make sense that the expression of soul would also be universal thus music is ideal. It is my opinion that forms of pure expression are natural as music is one of them it would explain why it is ingrained in society. How is it natural? Well, think about it music is all around you rhythm often exemplified by the percussion can be found in your heartbeat, your foot steps ( ... )

Personally I feel that there is no substitute for playing music and connecting with the piece or making up a piece and connecting with the notes because it incorporates you and becomes part of you.

i TOTALLY agree there, i'd never thought of it that way. but its completely true. when you're playing a really great piece of music you feel something that you don't feel when you're just listening.
