'Tis true that children are so much more open to the spiritual/supernatural world. A lot of imaginary friends are actually faeries or spirits.
It is when children grow up hearing that it is all in their imagination, when they are taught that it isn't real, when they aren't believed by the adults in their lives, that 9 out of 10 slowly start to ignore the faeries and spirits - and once ignored for long enough, the faeries and spirits tend to go away.
Its sad really. I am so happy to hear that you are encouraging his gift ... as well as accepting your own. :)

I absolutely believe this and you can be certain that when Donovan is old enough to identify those that accompany him, whether imaginary or not, they will be included in our activities, including getting a spot at the dinner table or getting their very own faerie bed in his room.
I'd love to hear another's thoughts on the matter - especially since this post when oddly quiet with comments, as opposed to the other posts I make. LOL
