What can I say about this? After "Passion Needs a Straitjacket", I wanted to write another comedy, and not writing much Inu/Kag any more, I wanted to do something with them. However, I wanted to make it fun and sometimes cheesy and ridiculous, with still getting the romance across. In the end, I'm pretty happy with the results. There were a lot of inside jokes in there, which were done on purpose mostly for my own amusement, but if others were entertained, then there was my bonus.
Like a lot of WIPs, I was very terrible at updating this. I mean, it's ridiculous that it took me almost 5 years to finish, but that's inspiration for you. My multi-fandom, multi-pairing ways are also to blame, as well as school, work and life. Still, you can't say I didn't finish it. It's pretty rare for me to not finish things. I think I've only discontinued two fics my whole time in fandom.
This is pretty minor but I got some questions about my OCs, Riho and Takeda. Mostly, if they were reincarnations of Miroku, Sango, and I even Jakotsu. They really aren't. They are caricatures of these pseudo-reincarnation types that fanon seems to allow. I mean, if people wanted to think of them as reincarnation characters of someone specific, they are welcome to think that. Mostly they are just OCs, plain and simple, basically fanfic furniture to somewhat help the plot along. Not a lot of deep thought went into them honestly. To be fair, I had more fun making the demons modernized, like Sesshoumaru, Kouga and Ayame, and I had the most fun making Mrs. Higurashi a duplicitous, cougar-type character. I think I got the most criticism for her, for characterizing her WRONG, which I really didn't think was that big of a deal, to be honest. Some of these minor characters are easy pickings for author conjecture.
Next, I want to thank the various betas I had over the years, mostly Ashley and Rachel. What would I do without you? Thanks, girls!
Lastly, I want to say how happy I am for the support I've gotten for this fic over the years. I have met some great people in the Inuyasha fandom who has come across this fic, talked to me, and became good fandom friends with me. I think that's the biggest gift anyone could ask for, even beyond the accomplishment of finishing such a fic.
Over the years, I've acquired some great gems for "Hanyou of the Future" and I want to just showcase them here again.
