"Moosh, what the hell?"

It wasn't the best way to announce her presence in the clinic, but she was scared and worried and apparently today was one of those fun days when she could only tell the truth, which made her even more irritated and worried.

"Oh, my God, I am too young for a heart attack, you are such a total asshole and I'm so glad you're okay," she said in a burst, reaching his bedside and staring down at him with concern.

"Okay... who are you and what have you done with my sister?" he said warily, because that uncontrollable spew of sisterly concern wasn't anything he'd really experienced before.

They'd always looked out for each other, and from time to time, she'd even threatened cause pain to those who might've hurt him, but this was a whole new level of familial affection.

"The concern's kind of nice," he said, apparently before he could stop himself, "But I don't really see how getting stung by a bee was my fault."

"I..." Kate paused, frowning as she tried to figure out the answer to that. She was saying an awful lot, especially since she and Marshall never exactly talked about their relationship. They were brother and sister, their family was fucked, they had to look out for each other, but they didn't talk about it.

"It's not your fault," she settled on. "But I'm still worried. Jesus Christ, what the hell would I do without you here?" And there she went again, something she'd hoped had only been temporary. "Also, apparently it's like, the day of truth for me. I don't know. It's been going on since this morning."

"You'd be fine. Ease off on the drama, Katie, it was just a bee sting," he sighed, one corner of his mouth hitching up into a crooked smile. He really believed she would be, if it came down to it. If Kate was good at anything, it was adapting to her situation. They'd both been in survival mode for most of their lives.

"Me too. Since last night. In the middle of a game of truth or dare, just to make the whole thing that much more agonizing. I admitted to wanting to sleep with Maxxie, in front of just about everyone I know here. No, wait, it was better than that. The question was, who here do you most wish would fuck you until you can't walk? So, I'm not even sure the bee sting was the worst thing that happened this weekend."
