Hi, I didn't really take any planned steps. My quit was unplanned. I had a TIA, which is a small stroke, if there is such a thing. That was enough. NO MORE SMOKES! I have been active with support on the internet, as it really helps to have people to talk to. I have only made one quit attempt, and it worked, though I did slip up and have a smoke about 3 days into it. I got SO dizzy I had to sit down. I didn't even finish that cigarette, and never looked back. Oh, almost forgot, I did use the patch for about the first month. For me, it really helped with the cravings in the beginning.
hi i don't think there is another one, but it's been a while since the last time I checked. I quit smoking about 6 months ago using the patches and the gum. Now I'm just on the gum and rapidly losing the taste for it. My mum still chain smokes but I'm almost free! I smoked regularly for about 10 years. I quit bcoz I was worried about my health - getting breathless mainly.
Free of the addiction. Yes, that is what it's all about. Every time I see someone smoking these days, I feel kinda sad. Did you ever notice that most folks you see smoking just don't look happy? Often times they are standing alone. I feel sad for them, but I feel great for myself. Is that selfish? I don't think so. It's having the courage to quit and be free of the addiction. : ) I'm sitting here right now having my coffee, and I don't have to get up AFTER EACH CUP, put on my shoes, go outside, and light up. My life is clean too. Think about all the filth associated with smokes. The stink in your house, your car, your clothes. Ashes EVERYWHERE! Butts in the ashtrays, butts in the garbage, butts spill all over the place. YUCK! I'm also free of having to worry about where my lighter is, make sure it's working properly. Trying to light a smoke in the wind was always a pain in the ***. Well, sorry if I got a bit long winded this morning. I guess I felt like talking, lol. Have a great day!

What steps did you take and how many attempts did you make before quitting for good?
