so josh and i went on a little adventure to berkeley with nona yesterday. he wants to go there after he's got his AA. i'm thinking about transferring with him so we can go together. berkeley is THE COOLEST town ever. i swear it's like mardi gras for hippies or something. the shops all throw open their doors and there's street vendors selling crazy

not stepping on MIL's toes can't be more important then feeding yourself and Nona the very best food there is. You deserve it and Nona does too. Josh as well, for that matter, but he has to make that call himself I guess

Maybe you could offer to go with her during the shopping trips under the guise of spending "quality time" with her. Or say you have some recipes you want to try and wanna look at the ingredients. I dunno.

well see, she used to tell me when she was going to the store. now she doesn't. it's like she sneaks out when i'm busy or gone and buys up the shittiest food possible and then i'm forced to eat it or starve OR risk offending her because she's a horrible cook and i'm a good cook. she always gets kind of defensive whenever i cook something and everyone loves it. i understand where she's coming from, but seriously. sigh.

I did! That's exciting, I'll need to check it out. I heard some Californian students in one of my classes talking about how it's getting "dirtier" but they looked kinda high maintenance.
