Oh, and to add, we'd love to go vegan, or at least vegetarian, but my hardest thing would be to please the kids. They are not big on veggies to begin with even though they would like to be done with meat. Any good cookbook or website recommendations??

the Sarah Kramer cookbooks (How it All Vegan, Garden of Vegan, and La Dolce Vegan) all have really good recipes to try. there's a kid section in HWAV that's more for little kids, but you may find something to interest yours even if they are older. also, there's books about raising vegetarian and vegan children out there that i have yet to read, but i'm sure they are good resources. you can also check out Diet For A New America by John Robbins (the son of the Robbins involved in Baskin-Robbins). my new favorite cookbook is Vegan With A Vengeance because she even makes brussel sprouts sound delicious! also check out www.vegweb.com and there's some great vegan cooking communities on here that could probably give you some tips.

start with things like lasagnes, chilis, and tofu fritatas or scrambles and they will hopefully start to like their veggies. i had to do that with my hubby since his mom has no idea to cook, which ruined most vegetables for him...

good luck!:)

She has gotten bigger since the last pic I saw of her. It happens so fast! Look at mine--they are almost as tall as me(I'm 5'9.5"), eek!

she is growing so super fast. when she was born she was only 6lbs 11oz, and now she's huuuuuuuuuge! okay, so not huge but people used to say she looked tiny for her age and now they say she looks big for her age. i guess my milk is extra filling or something:)

i wonder what it will be like when i have kids the same age as yours... that's kind of a scary thought for me! i hope i'll be a good mom to a teenage girl... yikes.

Wow, Nona's getting big. She's so cute :D

I'm gonna try the oil cleanser. I've been going through that cosmetics site like crazy and trying to replace the products I still have as I run out of them. Some I can find easily (like the crystal deoderant and Tom's-even if it's recently been swallowed by coporate consolidation) but the really good ones are only online or only sold in select stores, usually in downtown boutiques around Pike Place. :/

So I'm totally gonna make what I can. It's crazy that brands like method and Mrs. Meyers claim to be all environmentally friendly and yet they don't score much higher than the cheaper, non-organic brands that are full of weird things. Where do you get castor oil? And I've only heard of grapeseed oil used by itself in cooking, so hopefully that'll be easy to find.

Anyway, I miss you so much. Hopefully I can come down with Jake sometime soon, after this quarter ends. Take care <3

yeah she's so big now!

try the oil cleansing method. lemme know how it goes. i found castor oil at fred meyer for like 1.99 and the grapeseed oil was at trader joe's for under 4 dollars. i just added a couple drops of tea tree oil and lavender oil and that was it.

i'm glad you're using that website too. i'm using it like crazy myself. for deodorant, i found an easy recipe: distilled water+equal parts of salt and baking soda. you stir them into a bowl of water until they dissolve, then pour it off into a fine misting spray bottle like a non-aerosol spray bottle and you can add essential oils if you'd like. works pretty wel.

i hope you come see me soon! i miss you like crazy. <3 <3
