What bugs me about the killing Indians thing:

Thanksgiving isn't about killing Indians. Thanksgiving is about a *friendly* relationship with the Indians. It's ironic that one of our major holidays is based on our sole friendly interaction with a group we went on to slaughter and discriminate against, but the fact remains that Thanksgiving itself is not about killing Indians.

Speaking of which: the day after Thanksgiving this year was officially set aside as a federal holiday to celebrate the contributions of Native Americans.

Unfortunately, it was only officially made into a holiday one month ago, and only for this year, so no one noticed.
