Canoes and dorms

You are a champion paddler! The only time I was in a canoe with you that I remember, was the time at Sun River. Jalayne and I, novice paddlers, were given the care of you and Julie, very young children. Your father and Jenny were given the canoe with the guide and did not have to paddle at all. As I remember, J & I made many graceful circles in the water. Only the current pushed us to the take-out point. Did your dorm win? If so, what movie did you pick?

Am I missing some context here? The child is more comfortable being directly in the water than inside a canoe, most likely with some type of PFD?
