I like Hank being aware enough to realize that taking back his arguments with his mother and with Alex would mean he and Alex wouldn't have achieved their new level of intimacy. It's a trade-off. And very clever for him to know Alex being there is a bad idea. The whole you're-ganging-up-on-me thing sounds Very Familiar, but I'll leave it at that.
