1. “You’re insane.”

“A judgement that might carry more weight did it not come from one presently detained in a Sanatorium for ‘trouble with his nerves’.”

“Well, they hung you here,” muttered Snape under his breath. “That ought to tell you something. And it isn’t like I don’t have plenty of examples to compare you with.” He screwed himself round in his chair to face the painting. “And, as you well know, I’m not detained. I can leave any time I choose.”

“And yet you choose to remain in this room and endure the unendurable Miss Granger. Interesting. My friend Watson would have been challenged by the conundrum.” Whiskery Meme Fic by rhosymedre47

2. She refused to be called a hero only because she had followed her instinct of survival. Heroism in itself, though, was not a concept she rejected. With the years, her idea of heroism had changed a little. It was not to be confounded with recklessness. To take an intelligent, calculated risk could be far more heroic than the seemingly great but essentially foolhardy gesture.
After a sleepless night of reading-she was in her seventh year now, and didn’t have to read the entire book anymore, as she had become an expert at skimming and pouncing at what she needed-she knew her possibilities. And her risks. To enter the mind of a comatose man was nothing short of lunacy. It was a one-way street. Getting in was not difficult if you knew the right spells. Unless the patient cooperated, though, there was little chance of getting out. Because he had to take the lead. Can’t Make Fire Without a Spark by pigwidgeon37

3. He sat down, running his own fingers gingerly across his cheek, feeling the welt starting to rise. I’ll get that old woman. Somehow.

“I know that I asked you to promise me not to hex her back, but you know that it’s a set up, don’t you?” Hermione walked back into the room, wiping her dusty hands on a towel.

“Yes. I thought as much,” he said. “That doesn’t make it easier to take.”

It was her turn to nod. “I’m sure it doesn’t. A hex is a hex. No matter who it comes from.” She turned his cheek towards her and began to massage the paste into the skin. He heard the rasp of his afternoon stubble against the pads of her fingers. He was nearly lulled into sleep from her rhythmic ministrations. Home by misstee123

4. I should be doing this myself, I knew. I should have done this myself, without waking her, without bothering her, without sullying her anymore than I already had.

Her soft entreaties wove an aura of intimacy about this foul, yet necessary act.

"Come for me, Severus. Let the toxins come out."

"Oh, God..."

I threw my head back as my hips thrust forward and felt my climax sizzle along my spine before it came crashing out through my prick and dashed across the bed and over her hands. It was overwhelming and I did not remain awake long enough to see the vile streaks of ebony venom that followed, nor feel the dull, but thankfully temporary, agony their wake left behind. 5. “I think with careful planning you could get into casting some initial charms on healing potions when we return to school after the holiday. Would you like that, Miss Granger?”

“Very much,” Hermione croaked helplessly. She was still waiting for Snape's pronouncement of her complete inability to brew said healing potions. She hadn't anticipated getting into such depth during the course of her seventh year, and she would require extensive help-help she strongly doubted Snape would be amenable to providing.

“Mind you, I suspect it will be next to impossible to find a test subject,” Vector continued. “Not willing, at least, and temporary illnesses won't do. Legal issues aside, every one of the potions you've suggested are intended for chronic conditions only, and these types of pain-reducing charms might actually be detrimental to anyone with an acute illness. I'm not quite sure-I'd have to consult with Filius-but it's a shame we couldn't find someone-”

“I shall volunteer.”

Hermione stifled a cough and stared at Snape. Being Hermione Granger by amphotera (WIP)

6. “I made my own candied ginger. I… er… used all you had in the storeroom.”

“Wasted it, you mean. On carrots.”

“I want your eyes to heal.” Her voice is very soft.

“You must forgive me. I am unaccustomed to having people feel concern for me.”

“Get used to it.”

“Why is that?”

“Because I am not going to go away.”

“Ever?” He sounds hopeful.

“Never, ever. Resign yourself to being stuck with me.” A Slytherin Concession by Fizzabella (WIP)

7. While certainly pleased at the prospect of being done with this ridiculous exercise in babysitting, for some reason the possibility that it might end before Her… Miss Granger returned from completing her N.E.W.T.s was a bit irksome. He shrugged off the fanciful notion.

“I believe we are done for today,” he said stiffly.

Dedalus chuckled. “Yes, yes. You’re welcome, Severus. You can’t fool me. Well, not anymore. You’re pleased as punch. I’ll be seeing you tomorrow then.”

Not dignifying that with a reply, Severus simply held the door for the other wizard and shut it behind him.

The quiet that settled into the house was refreshing. Mindless chatter annoyed him, and only the prospect of either being forced to acclimate a new assistant at this late date or, worse, to wait for Miss Granger’s return and then to work with her alone for the remainder of his rehabilitation held him back from verbally flaying Dedalus alive.

That fleeting thought of being subjected to an extended amount of time with Miss Granger, unrelieved by the company of anyone else, was rather less dismaying than it should have been.

8. “I can’t believe this is happening again.”

“Well, you shouldn’t have gone chasing poor Zachary, Severus.”

“Poor Zachary? He did this to me, Hermione!”

“It was an accident. I’m taking off your trousers now.”

“I expect sex when this is all over, just to let you know.”

“Severus, you know I don’t mix work and pleasure. You won’t get sex until I’m sure the paralysis is gone.”

“Where’s the Healer I annoyed last year? I want her back.”

“You’re an exasperating man, Severus. I have no idea why I married you.”

“Well, I married you for your hand job skills.” The (not so) Long Awaited Sequel Sponge Bath by jenKM1216 orgypsy_morph

9. He stopped pacing, leaned against the examining table, crossed his arms and glared at her. However, in his red satin boxers, the effect wasn’t quite the same as he had hoped. “So, what you mean to tell me, wife, is that I am going to stay this way?”

“Even with the Skin-Regeneration Elixir, it takes forty-five to fifty days, Severus. So, unless you want to peel like a snake every three to four days for the next six to seven weeks, I’m afraid the answer is yes.”

He exhaled slowly, his dark eyes narrowing into a furious scowl.

“At least Christmas holiday starts the end of the week,” Hermione said, hoping to console his anger. “I’m more than happy to write a dismissal from teaching for the week, and by start of term the spots should have faded enough to use a Concealment Charm - hopefully.” What Makes Nudu Spots by beaweasley2

10. "You slept through the eleven thirty alarm. He could have died."

Someone pried open one of his eyelids, and Severus was momentarily blinded. He thought he saw a brief glimpse of a face surrounded by a massive halo of dark hair and warm, soft light before he was released.

"I just hope we caught it in time." She sighed as someone tucked his arm under the warmth of the blankets. "Go on, it's time for me to take over anyway. You have to be more careful in the future. He has to get the antivenin once an hour or he deteriorates, you remember what the Healers told us."

"Yes, Hermione, I remember what the Healers said. And if I didn't remember, I have all the notes you wrote up and gave to Ron and I. Plus the copy sitting there by the bed. Not to mention how you remind us. Every. Single. Day." While You Were Sleeping by missmiah
