I was just down there a little while ago to take photo's the whole myer building is engulfed in flame, the place is gutted.
Honestly looking at the intencity of the flames.... there may not be much of cat and fiddle arcade left, at the very least there will be extensive smoke damage throughout the non-burning parts of the build.

from what they're saying (thankfully) they've mostly saved C&F ... but I really hope Myer will rebuild and stay there..

problem is, if they consider it not to be financially viable.. T-T I LOVE MYER!!

Unfortunately they will most likely not rebuild Myer, the building was a heritage listed building and worth roughly 40million and not was Myer worried about the future DFO but Myer's been in a financial slump for soem time... the hobart store the only one that was actually profitable...

Chances are they'll rebuild it as some sort of super minimall.... with a borders book shop (hopes)

Mayor of Hobart has offered Princes st Wharf No. 1 or City hall to Myer as they rebuild (in other words, they don't want Myer to leave Hobart, mostly because it's the only decent store in Hobart).

DFO hasn't been approved as far as I know. If they're bright, they won't approve it.

Actually, it's only a matter of time before it's approved, even still there a whole lot of other places being built up in that area which will still impact on the CBD shopping populous (people from Sorell and surrounds as well as Richmond, etc ( ... )
