I teach kids with Autism and Asperger's , and it pisses me off that the schools don't seem to understand that different kids have special needs, and it's not always physical or academic. Unfortunately, there's not much parents can do other than being their child's advocate.
My son has a heart problem, and I was scared to death of him being in a PE class with 30 kids, and the PE teacher having 700 students, how on earth would a PE teacher notice if he's not keeping up with himself from the week before? They'd notice if he passed out, but that's not the type of problem he has.
I'm lucky, I found a great private school that has scholarships. I'd probably home school if our public school was the only option.
