It's become a sort of running joke for me now that I keep almost rambling about this but then stop because it's too much to get into so now I'm going to just make an LJ post about it and get this over with ( Read more... )

people are REALLY resistant/almost in denial about how horny teenagers are. like not just teen boys, teen girls are also extremely horny and it's totally normal! it's fine! they should be allowed to be horny! it's just a problem when adults prey on them FOR that, but being horny in itself isn't a crime! but that's more nuance than a lot of the conversations i see about this kind of thing, haha.

i can see why that part of omoriboy got dropped, not just because of the controversy but also it helps emphasis the "innocence" of the omori world and how much of a childish fantasy it is compared to the crueler reality around him. something something association of innocence with pre-pubescence something somthing puritanism sex is evil and sinful something something you know what i'm getting at

EXACTLYYYY sheltering teens and not allowing them to have any sexuality can cause huge problems later in life and make them feel deeply uncomfortable with themselves and their bodies. There are countless stories of people talking about how religion made them scared or hate their own sexuality, like every single "dirty thought" was a sin that meant they were going to hell. It's horrible and I can't help but feel like this puritanism online is a part of that growing negativity. It REALLY sucks.

Omori as a story took ten years to develop- up to the final release of the game they were still tweaking things about the story and Omocat says it wouldn't have been the same game if not for the turbulent development cycle. I think you make a great point about how childish innocence is a huge part of how the game portrays itself artistically and I think "Aging him down" in a sense really helps out in a lot of ways for this specific story. I made a new friend recently who's been into Omori for a lot of years and would absolutely agree with what ( ... )

I have one word - frustration... 😩

Some people perceive the Internet as this place made specifically for them so everything that doesn't correspond to their tastes or morals needs to be removed. -.- Things like this happen so often that it's become tiresome at this point. I can't tell this for sure, but it can be possible that some of the people who posted claims against Omocat had different ulterior motives and just found a good excuse to dislike her, since framing someone people dislike for being a pedo is also a common practice. D|

Everytime any nuanced or detailed take gets simplified or abstracted to being either "correct" or "wrong" that seems like a pretty childish way of thinking to me. Maybe human brains work that way because a boolean variable takes less memory than integer. Or controversial takes just get more emotional reaction in general, haha. Though this should be really obvious to the majority. I just wish more people were aware of what they're doing or how their brains operate (also societal problems but it's better ( ... )

Completely agree. People need to be more aware of this and learn how to recognize biases within themselves so we stop CANCELING OMOCAT for "TEEN BOYS ARE HORNY" JESTS it's utter nonsense
