I would love to know how you are managing to communicate with all the deaf people you run into at work, (and at home) without signing. How do you understand what they're saying? What do you do to con?vey your words?
Anyway, I'm very proud of you for this effort and for taking such full advantage of being in DC.

I've picked up a little sign (for example, "chicken caesar salad" is easy) and I know how to fingerspell, but I'm not fluent at all, so I get by mostly with writing.
Patrick has some hearing, so I can usually enunciate loudly with some ASL and fingerspelling here and there if we have difficulty.
