Bringing blood and stardust in your wake

I turned 24 yesterday. Break out the walker, the knitting needles, and the crossword puzzles. Actually, I hate crossword puzzles, and I'm terrible at knitting, but the walker could be cool. To celebrate, my family came up and we went to Tangerine Cafe. Then we hung out at my apartment, where they gave me my birthday gift: a blender and a whole ( Read more... )

A Wrinkle in Time in 90 Seconds ext_418997 February 6 2011, 14:35:16 UTC
Hello, this is James Kennedy, the co-curator of the "90-Second Newbery" film festival (and the author of the YA fantasy "The Order of Odd-Fish").

Would you believe, all the kids our "Wrinkle in Time" actually go to public schools in Oak Park, Illinois? Most of them are in a theater program there called CAST -- which, as it happens, is in danger of being dismantled because of budget cuts. Sad!

I noticed that you're a co-appreciator of C.S. Lewis' "The Dark Tower." I, too, feel the ache of it not being finished. In fact, I felt it so keenly that I appropriated one of the images in it for "The Order of Odd-Fish." Nobody yet has noticed what it is, because "The Dark Tower" is fairly obscure, but I bet you would.

Thanks again for spreading the word!

James

You're quite welcome! I'm very pleased to meet you, so to speak. The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival was an excellent idea. I'm sorry to hear that CAST is having budget cut problems; clearly, it's a great program that fosters a lot of creativity.

The Dark Tower is indeed rather obscure, regrettably. I'm putting The Order of Odd-Fish on my to-read list, and I'll keep an eye out for the image!

Thanks for dropping by and commenting. :)
