I loved the bit with the Admiral. Of course Danno would talk to him like anyone else. That was funny, and so in character.

(That would be the BEST game of laser tag ever, btw)

Fantastic. Great job with characterization. I love how you showed Steve slipping into the cold and the darkness that is always lurking about under the surface with his bad memories, and Danny seeing that and needing to fix it, playing the clown and pouring out words until Steve is distracted and smiling again.

...I want to see the team playing laser tag! Oh man, that would get über-competitive real fast! XD But they would probably all let Grace win. (Btw there is totally laser tag in Honolulu. I used to play at Aloha Tower when I was a kid... although I think that particular laser tag place closed down...?)

Aww, thanks so much! Steve definitely has his dark moments. I mean, he was a Navy SEAL, he's had to have seen and done things that left a mark on his mentality. You can tell sometimes he has trouble compartmentalising civilian life and military life (you know, what with the grenades and going after the perps as though they're enemies to be taken down and not people to be bought to justice through trials and whatnot). I actually really wanna write a PTSD!Steve fic one of these days, when I get the time. And yes! Danny so totally does that, too. Distracts Steve with his rambling to pull him out of his funk. "Ke Kenoi" was just on and when he was going on about the past and how it all lead him to where he was (and being as emotional as Steve gets about these kinds of things), Danny jumped in and bought them back to the present. I think I squeed a little at that ( ... )

I love it when Danno fixes Steve! Poor Steve baby! ;____; There is so much darkness in him, and that flat look, I totally know the one you mean.

I loved the humour woven through this! And I would love to see the team and Grace battle it out on the laser tag court! :D

I knowww! Danny fixing Steve's problems just meeeeelts my hearttt. He needs all of the cuddles and love and patient, tender care he can get. I really want to write a PTSD!Steve fic one of these days so I can dig around in that darkness and then have Danny drag in the light, because he's Danny and that's what he does. <333 And god, I love Alex's face, he's so expressive, and in a completely different way than Scott is, but it's subtle and it just works so well for McGarrett. Danny is so right, because Steve totally has a Face.

Hee, thank you! I had fun with this! It was supposed to be fluffier, but apparently my mind wasn't in the right place for it. Though I miiiiight have to write the laser tag thing, just maybe. I'll add it to my wip list, but now it seems like I've adopted a spy au kind of thing that so seriously came out of nowhere. And I have so not gone laser tagging in like, forever. I think an educational field trip is in order!
