Clubs (high school & college)

Clubs are a Big Deal in Japanese education. According to polls, well over half the student body at the average high school in Japan is the member to an after-school club. Clubs are where the sempai-kohai (upperclassman-lowerclassman) dynamic really comes into play for students. Clubs also help people find and make friends with similar interests.

Here in the RP setting, clubs are important because they give us another opportunity for student-student (and student-teacher, as well) interaction. Clubs meet close to everyday in an assigned clubroom (located in the campus club facilities), so it's the perfect place to hang out with your girlfriend, or to meet with your crush.<3 It's also a great place to show off your skills. All school clubs must have a teacher counselor who watches over the club and makes sure that everything's going all right; they don't have to go to club everyday, but the occasional visit would be appropriate.

All clubs are expected to make a booth for the school festival held once a year, as well as for the beginning-of-the-year, all-important club fair, where you advertise your club and look for more members.

To sign up for or create a student club, please read everything below, and then comment to this post with all the information described at the end of this post.

Below is a list of suggested clubs that are waiting for a character to start them. Just use it as a spring board in case you think your character might want to start a club (though, you can pretty much start any type of club you like, don't limit yourself to what's here). You need two player character members in order to start a club. In order to keep the club running, you also need to get at least one more additional recruit in 30 days. Ignore those requirements for now. You may NPC a faceless teacher counselor, but we suggest that teacher characters actively take on the role if they so wish.

Karate | Tennis | Basketball | Track & Field | Kendo | Archery | Hiking | Cycling | Social Dancing | Swimming | Soccer | American Football | Volleyball | Judo | Sumo | Badminton | Light Music | Mahjong | Go | Chess | Tea Ceremony | Flower Arranging | Comedy | Astronomy | Gardening | Shogi | Poetry | Radio | Theater | Photography | Journalism | Speech & Debate | Motor | Sewing | Choir | Band | Film | Counseling | Art | Literature

Currently, there are a few clubs that were started during the first term when the school had only NPC students and faculty. If no character members are listed, then assume that the club is run by NPC students. Your character can join any club listed below; we suggest just one, but if they're workaholics, then two is just possible.

Baseball
Mihashi, Ren (Pitcher, high school team)
Yamamoto, Takeshi (Pitcher, college team)

Cooking
Mahya, Ashura

Kendo
Yasha

Manga
-Supervising teacher: Sakata, Gintoki

Orchestra
Gokudera, Hayato

Wrestling
-College captain, high school assistant coach: Nakai, Kamina

What makes clubs at Quo Vadis very different from what students might be used to, is the fact that high school students and college students can be members of the same club. This is important, since classes and housing is split between the schools; clubs are the main route for interaction between high school and college characters. Sports clubs are an exception; the teams are split between the high school team and the college team, when holding matches against other schools in Japan. They can still practice together though; high school members have the advantage of advise and training the college members might provide for them!

Off-campus field trips or other events for the clubs are permitted. The teacher counselor must give permission for any off-campus events, and must be present when any high school members are participating.

For creating a club, include this information in your comment:
- Club name
- 2-3 sentences describing the club's goal and activities
- List of 2 students' full names, designating one as club president If you are a third year high school student or a college student, you have the option of being the president (or in the case of sports clubs, captain) of the club. Note that here.

For joining an existing club, include this information in your comment:
- You character's full name
- Desired club
